Howdy! I’m Doa, just another 21-year-old brick in the wall, trying to survive the current landscape with childhood nostalgia-induced coping mechanisms. As most problematic Gen Z people come, I’m interested in retro video games and collecting anything and everything that reminds me of the sweet, sweet 2000s.
I can’t quite say that I’m a native of Ankara but, I can comfortably say that I witnessed a lot of characteristics that made Ankara, Ankara. Arcade culture was surprisingly one of those elements that made the city taste a little sweeter to me. As I frequented places like Atakule and Armada’s arcades, they etched into my mind and childhood memories to never leave again. As more iconic places that I fondly remember closed down one by one, my interest in arcades did not sizzle out as I expected it. This is where Two Beans In a Pod comes in. By quenching our never-ending thirst for our guilty childhood pleasures, we'll be taking you on a journey that will end our longing for our childhood once and for all. |
I’m Asya, a media student who has an old soul with a healthy fascination with popular culture. When I say healthy, I mean an obsession. I consume anything and everything that is categorized as entertainment, whether it be about music, films or books. According to the context, I can either take a more critical approach or simply choose to enjoy the simplicity of what I’m presented; I perceive both experiences as essentials.
Being present in today’s popular culture is extremely amusing but I realized, the older I get, the more I find myself reminiscing about the mainstream content of my childhood. I’m currently 22 years old and feel pretty nostalgic of anything and everything that belongs to 2000s-2010s popular culture. As we remind you more of early 2000s and unlock some forgotten memories, we also hope to find ways to revive the years we have left behind. |
